Mergers & Acquisitions `PeopleSoft acquisition, a positive development' Our Bureaus
Chennai/Bangalore , Dec. 14 PRODUCT development partners of PeopleSoft Inc in India have termed the acquisition of its principal by Oracle as a positive development, which augur well for them. PeopleSoft has two product development partners in India Hexaware Technologies and Covansys. Both companies have over 1,400 engineers working on Peoplesoft's product lines. Hexaware said the acquisition ends uncertainty of the last several months and opens new opportunities for the company. The company is encouraged by Oracle Corporation's statements to support PeopleSoft applications until 2013, Hexaware has said in a communication to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Hexaware believes that its customer base for supporting and maintaining PeopleSoft products should expand in the future. The company is an Oracle partner and has adequate Oracle skills as well. In view of company's current technology strengths and strong relationships, the company is confident that it will be able to continue and build its relationship with Oracle as well, the communication said. As on September 30, in the company's Bangalore centre, there were about 750 people for PeopleSoft as one client. In its PeopleSoft business, there were around 600 employees, Hexaware's CEO, Mr Rusi Brij told an investor's conference in October. Mr K. Subrahmanyam, President and CEO of Covansys India, said "We see it as a positive development". He hopes that the company's engagement with Oracle to be even bigger. Covansys has over 500 people working on PeopleSoft Enterprise, EnterpriseOne and World product families. Mr Pawan Kumar, Chairman of vMoksha, an implementation partner for PeopleSoft, personally feels that implementation may slow down a bit post-merger if Oracle goes slow on pushing PeopleSoft products. However, this could also see a spurt in demand for support services, he added.
