Hyderabad , Dec. 14

TAJ Krishna, a five-star luxury hotel from the Taj-GVK group, has joined the exclusive club of `The Leading Hotels of the World' that represents 400 of world's top hotels spread in 80 countries.

Announcing this here on Tuesday at a press conference, Ms Beate H. Mauder, Vice-President (Marketing) of Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces, said Taj Krishna is the 13th hotel in the country to join the club. Consequently, the hotel will get the preferred status in this region for members of Leaders Club, a global grouping comprised frequent guests of The Leading Hotels of the World. The member hotels share a global reservation network for cross promotions.

Becoming a member of the club was not a cakewalk. "We needed to get through an incognito audit that checks the facility against a variety of criteria," Mr Veer Vijay Singh, Area Director and General Manager of Taj Krishna, said.

The Leading Hotels of the World based in New York, picked and promoted hotels that conformed to the best service delivery benchmarks. Mr Singh said the company spent Rs 60 crore on renovation during the last four years.

The hotel is expected to notch up a turnover of Rs 65 crore by the end of this fiscal against Rs 43 crore last year. The Taj group would open a resort at Kovalam on December 23, Mr N. Prakash, Director of Sales (South), said.
