Politics AP: Truce in jeopardy as Maoists strike a tough posture Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Dec. 14 ENDING a lull of seven months in armed confrontation with the Government, the CPI (Maoist) has asked its cadre to repel the `fascist' attacks of the Government and the police. In a statement here on Tuesday, the State Secretary of CPI (Maoist), Mr Ramakrishna, criticised the Congress Government for not honouring what he termed as the `cease-fire' pact entered between the two sides. Incidentally, the ceasefire between the two sides would end on December 16. The move by the Maoists threatens to put a halt to the ongoing peace process in the State that began soon after the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, assumed power. Mr Ramakrishna alleged that the Government and the police had breached the spirit of ceasefire, particularly after the end of first phase of talks. While conducting combing operations, the police had been strengthening "informer networks" and encouraging renegades, he alleged.
