New Delhi to host global grains meet

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Dec. 15

A CONFERENCE on global foodgrains and pulses trade — Grain Asia 2005 — will be held in New Delhi duringJanuary 15-16.

The international meet will discuss the global grains scenario, Indian trade policy and prospects, price outlook for the grains market and trading in grain derivatives.

The meet is designed to bring together the processing industry and distributive trade involved in foodgrains — wheat, rice, coarse cereals and pulses — as also a host of service providers including trade intermediaries, analysts, machinery suppliers, commercial banks as also logistics and inspection services.

Well-known speakers from India and abroad are expected to share their in-depth knowledge and views on the grain market dynamics and emerging business opportunities. Presentations by both fundamental and technical analysts would crystal gaze the future price behaviour, the event manager, Mr Kailash Singh of Teflas Conferences and Events, told Business Line.

The highlight of Grain Asia 2005 will be the `great grain debate', a high-level interactive session on key issues with participation from Government, industry, economists and farmers' organisations so as to draw up a roadmap for the future.

There would be an associated exhibition, buyer-seller meet and award function, the organiser said. All-India Grain Exporters Association, All-India Rice Exporters Association, Pulses Importers Association, All-India Food Processors Association and the Indian Merchants' Chamber would support the event.
