New Delhi , Dec. 15

HP and Veritas Software Corporation have announced an expansion of their alliance by naming the latter's products as HP's preferred file system and volume management solutions for the HP-UX 11i operating environment.

"This initiative is aimed at easing customer evolution to high-end HP Integrity and HP 9000 servers," Mr Agendra Kumar, Country Manager, Veritas Software Solutions India, said at a news conference here on Wednesday.

This agreement enables HP VSE (virtual server environment) customers to automatically expand and contract server resources in real time based on business priorities and maintain service levels in the event of unexpected downtime, he said.

The companies plan to integrate key products, including Veritas Storage Foundation Cluster File system and storage foundation for `Oracle RAC' with HP Serviceguard, Mr Hemant Tiwari, Director - Enterprise Servers and Storage, HP India said.

Mr Kumar said Veritas is in the process of establishing its new campus in Pune.

"We have already bought 10-acres of land and the construction of the campus has already started," he said adding it is expected to be operational during 2005.

Currently, Veritas has about 1,000 professionals in its existing centre in Pune, he said.
