Nabard unions to stage march

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Employees and officers of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) will hold a `March to Parliament' in New Delhi on Thursday.

The march is being organised to press for a series of long-pending demands, said Mr Jose T. Abraham, and Mr A.S.S. Nampoothiri, leaders of the employees and officers associations of the apex bank, respectively.

The demands include retention of Nabard as a development finance institution, maintenance of parity in pay scales, superannuation benefits with counterparts in the Reserve Bank, protection of the public sector character of the apex bank and smooth flow of funds from the Reserve Bank/Nabard for the benefit of landless, small and marginal farmers.
