Prospects for peace, post-Arafat
It appears that once the new Palestinian President is elected, moves will commence for an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. For any peace process to be sustainable, the Palestinian Authority should quell terrorist violence and adopt democratic governance . India may have no direct role in pushing forward the peace initiatives nor can it pretend to contribute significantly in economic terms to the West Asian peace process, says G. Parthasarathy.
