Interest on SDS

It is unfortunate that some of the members of Rajya Sabha have insisted that the Employees Provident Fund Organisation should deposit even the interest in the Special Deposit Scheme (SDS).

The Centre has already slashed the rate of interest on SDS as in other saving instruments. When the members of EPF demand for higher rate of interest, it is unwise to invest more and more money in the SDS. The EPFO should insist on the Centre either increasing the rate of interest on SDS or allowing them to invest their money in other better yielding sources.
