Mumbai , Dec. 19

SYSMEX Corporation, a Japanese diagnostics major, has finalised an agreement with Mumbai's Transasia Bio-medicals Ltd to source a high throughput clinical chemistry system.

According to the agreement between the two companies, Chemix 800, a blood chemistry analyser developed by Transasia, will be marketed worldwide by Sysmex.

The product would be marketed globally under the `Sysmex Transasia' brand name, said Mr Suresh Vazirani, Chairman and Managing Director of Transasia.

The agreement would be valid for six years and in this period, the total sales of analysers is expected to be worth about Rs 100 crore, he added.

Transasia has invested over Rs 10 crore for the development of Chemix 800, which has a processing speed of 600 tests per hour.

According to Mr Vazirani, the global market for analysers and its reagents is over Rs 25,000 crore annually. The company also expects to launch a sensitive tuberculosis kit in about a year.

Sysmex Corporation has a turnover of over Rs 3,000 crore and operates in the fields of hematology, coagulation and urine analysis systems.

The estimated Rs 100-crore Transasia is a diagnostics systems company that produces solutions for quality blood analysis, analysers and reagents.
