National seminar on taxonomy in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute (TBGRI), a National Centre of Excellence, is holding the 14th annual conference of the Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy and the national seminar on `New frontiers in plant taxonomy and biodiversity conservation'.

Prof G.M. Nair, Director, TBGRI, said here that the two programmes would be held one after the other during three days from December 29. The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, will inaugurate the event.

Eminent scientists and scholars from within the country and abroad are participating in the programmes. There will be technical sessions on biodiversity conservation, endemism and rare, engendered and threatened species, ethnobotany, taxonomic applications in bio-prospecting and intellectual property rights.
