Madurai , Dec. 21

THE Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has plans to establish more inland container depots (ICD) in the country.

While its network at present consists of 50 ICDs, nine more terminals are under construction in different parts of the country. Over the next five years, it has plans to extend the network to 65-70 terminals.

The wagons fleet is to be doubled by 2005-06. Currently, the wagons strength is 7,000, of which 3,800 are high-speed freight wagons.

There are plans to additionally procure 3,800 more wagons. There are nine suppliers, including the three railway workshops. A commitment has been made with the Golden Rock Workshop for 1000 wagons over five years, the CONCOR Director (Project and Services), Mr Rakesh Mehrotra, told presspersons at Tiruchi.

He flagged off the tenth rake of high-speed container flat wagons, comprising 45 wagons for CONCOR, at a function held at the workshop at Tiruchi, recently.
