Airlines `Fill up AI board vacancies within fixed timeframe' Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec. 22 THE process for filling up the four vacant posts of functional directors in Air India representing the commercial, personnel and engineering department should be completed within a fixed timeframe, the Committee on Public Undertakings has said in its first report. The report, which was tabled in Parliament here, also calls for immediate action to be taken to appoint persons against the five posts of non-official directors on the board of Air India. The committee in its report has said that it is not satisfied with the reply of the Government, as it is "evasive and incomplete." The report points out that the committee in its 11th report recommended that the four posts of functional directors and five non-official directors should be filled up on the AI board so that the company is run by a professionalised board of directors in accordance with the Department of Public Enterprises guidelines on composition of board of directors in public sector undertakings.
