Chola MF launches multi-cap fund

Our Bureau

Chennai , Dec. 22

CHOLAMANDALAM Mutual Fund has launched a fund that will invest in equity and related instruments across all ranges of market capitalisation — large-, mid- and small-cap.

The initial public offer for the Chola multi-cap fund opened on December 14 and will close on January 10. The company expects to collect Rs 75 crore initially, but the fund itself is open ended — an investor may put in money at any point in time.

Mr Sashi Krishnan, Chief Executive, Chola Mutual Fund, told a press conference here on Tuesday that the stock market would do well, given the fundamental strength of the Indian economy.

He said that the diversified investments out of the multi-cap fund would allow investors to get the benefits of any market segment — large, mid or small.

He felt that the present index levels did not adequately capture the opportunities afforded by the mid- and small-cap stocks.
