Roadways Tuticorin RTO launches plastic driving licence cards Our Correspondent
MADURAI: The Tuticorin Regional Transport Office launched the driving licence card made of plastic in a function held on Tuesday. This replaces the laminated licence card made of paper in use till now. Speaking to the media persons after launching the card, the Regional Transport Officer, Mr P. Kathirvelu, said the new card carried many unique features that include provisions for marking the status of penalties imposed on the driver. On violation of Section 118 of the Motor Vehicles Act for the first time, one of the three green spots marked on the card would be punched. On subsequent violation, other two green spots would be punched. Violation for the fourth time would invite temporary suspension of licence, indicated by a punch over the yellow spot on the card. A punch on the red spot on the card would indicate cancellation of the licence, the sources said.
