Airtel plans to cover 55 more towns in Karnataka

AIRTEL, which now covers 230 towns in Karnataka, is planning to cover another 55 by March 2005.

Mr Rohit Malhotra, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Bharti Cellular Ltd, Karnataka, told presspersons here that of the 55 towns planned, 25 each will be in southern and northern Karnataka. Other five towns will be in Bangalore Rural district. With this, the company is planning to expand its customer base to 1.25 million by the end of the current fiscal.

Three new `Airtel Points' in Bhadravati, Sagar and Kumta; and seven `Prepaid Shoppes' in Mangalore, Mysore and Hassan will be opened in the next two-three weeks. There are also plans to provide seamless coverage on national highways and major State highways in Karnataka, he added.
