New Projects Bhushan Steel commissions galvanised steel line Our Bureau
Mumbai , Dec. 23 BHUSHAN Steel & Strips Ltd (BSSL) has commissioned the country's biggest pre-painted galvanised steel line at Khopoli in Maharashtra, a company statement said on Wednesday. According to it, the 1,20,000-tonnes per annum line was imported from GFG of the US, pioneers in colour coating lines worldwide. It uses " the latest reverse roller coating technology and has a unique indirect re-injection feature." Of the one million tonnes of cold rolled steel made by Bhushan Steel, almost 3,50,000 tonnes is processed to make the widest flat product to be sold to OEM customers in the automobile and white goods industries. Over 4,50,000 tonnes are converted into galvanised plain and corrugated sheets. Of this, the company would now be adding further value to convert nearly 1,20,000 tonnes into pre-painted galvanised material. Pre-painted galvanised steel fetches an additional Rs 10,000 per tonne over plain galvanised steel. The new line is already working at 80 per cent capacity utilisation and will add Rs 450 crore to the company's top line in the first full year of operations. Contribution in the current year is estimated at Rs 200-250 crore.
