Qatar Airways sees growth

HYDERABAD: Qatar Airways foresees tremendous growth for airlines industry in Andhra Pradesh.

"It is still in the primary stage of growth. Unlike in Mumbai and Delhi, it is not a saturated market," Mr R. Bharathan, District Sales Manager (Central India), said.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the airline shrugged off the slump in airline market during the festival season in November.

The season saw a dip of 35 per cent in traffic last month. "Our market share in the State has gone up to 20.5 per cent in December from seven per cent in the previous month to Europe," he said.

The market share in traffic to United Kingdom increased to 40.8 per cent from 12 per cent. The total size of traffic to Europe was put at 800 a month and 1,000 a month to the UK.

The airline increased its flights (a week) from three to 12 last month.
