IBM, Byrraju to take tech to rural children

IBM India has partnered with Byrraju Foundation to launch a community relations initiative referred to as IBM Kidsmart Early Learning Programme in Andhra Pradesh.

The Managing Director of IBM India Ltd., Mr Shankar Annaswamy, in a statement said, "The objective of the IBM Kidsmart Early Learning Programme is to reach technology to the economically weaker and disadvantaged sections of India to accelerate their progress and also to bridge the digital divide between various sections of the society. "

The IBM Kidsmart is targeted at introducing technology at the pre-school level and designed to help children in the age group of 3-7 in disadvantaged sections of society to get a head start on their academic development through the use of software developed by IBM. Byrraju Foundation has adopted 142 villages to bring transformation through specific community development programmes.
