BSNL plans free meter reading service at Tiruchi

Our Correspondent

Madurai , Dec. 29

BSNL will soon be introducing a toll-free `meter reading service' in the Tiruchi Secondary Switching Area.

According to Mr V.K. Sanjeevi, Tiruchi BSNL Deputy General Manager (Administration), the basic phone subscribers could utilise the service for getting up-to-date details of the usage of their phones.

This will be available in English (19621) and Tamil (19622) probably from January 1.

It will be in addition to the existing bill enquiry service.

A mobile public call office would soon be introduced at the Tiruchi Railway Station to enable passengers to make calls from the trains.

Efforts are on to bring out the 2005 telephone directory and also make it a `yellow pages' directory.

There is the likelihood of BSNL coming up with New Year special offers including full talk-time benefit on purchase of recharge coupons of the value of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 for the mobile phone segment, he added, while speaking at the National Consumer Day Celebrations by the Consumer Protection Council Tamilnadu at Tiruchi recently.
