CCEA okays Rs 692-cr expansion plan for NLC

THE Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved investment of Rs 691.83 crore, including an Interest During Construction component of Rs 41.35 crore, for the expansion project of transmission system associated with Neyveli Lignite Corporation-II.

The project would be completed within 35 months and would facilitate evacuation of power from NLC-II expansion project and further dispersal to various beneficiaries of the Southern region.

CCEA also approved extension of about Rs 3.25 crore budgetary support to Burn Standard Company Ltd for settling its liabilities towards McDermott International Inc.

It also gave permission for capital investment of about Rs 303 crore and completion cost of Rs 354.47 crore for the Kulda Opencast Project of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. The project aims to produce 10 million tonnes per year of coal of grade F (non-coking, suitable for thermal power plants).
