WORLD Vision India, a relief and development organisation, plans to disburse aid worth Rs 9 crore to the victims of the tsunami waves, and has chalked out a two-phase strategy for disbursement.
The first phase will meet the immediate needs of people affected by the disaster - around 12,000 in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry and Kerala, according to Mr Jayanth Vincent, Director, Media Relations, World Vision India. Funds will come from private contributors in India and abroad, he said.
Victims will be given cooked food in camps and relief sites. This phase will be for three days; the first consignments for distribution have been despatched, he told newspersons.
The second phase will target around 40,000 families.
