Telelogic India to focus on product development

Preeti Pandey

Bangalore , Dec. 31

TELELOGIC has initiated a move to make India a key product development centre, with plans to increase its engineering strength to 125 people by March 2005.

Initially, the focus of the Product Development Lab set up by Telelogic in Bangalore would be on performing test and quality assurance of the company's integrated product offering.

The software firm later plans to develop new versions of existing products from the Indian development centre, according to Mr Sidharth Malik, Managing Director, Telelogic India.

Te Indian subsidiary, which forayed into the Indian market in 2001, currently includes sales, professional services and a global support centre that caters to the US and European markets.

Telelogic is headquartered in Malmo, Sweden, with operations in 17 countries. The company's US headquarters is in Irvine, California.

The Indian Product Development Lab is Telelogic's fourth product development lab, with the others being in the US, the UK and Sweden.

India is increasingly gaining significance in the company's product development network, Mr Malik told Business Line. The lab here would work on the integration component wherein engineers will integrate configuration management and requirement management solutions developed at other development centres.

Telelogic has also shifted its international telemarketing operations to India, with the facility catering to the European market. Currently, Telelogic India has 80 people on board. A new facility has been inaugurated to house 160 people.
