Vizag Port Trust donates Rs 3 cr to relief fund

THE Visakhapatnam Port Trust has donated Rs 3 crore to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to help tsunami victims.

Mr K. Ratna Kishore, Chairman, has sent a cheque for Rs 3 crore to the Indian Ports' Association for onward submission to the Union Government, according to a press release issued by the port.

The executive members of the Officers' Association of Visakhapatnam Port Trust and Dock Labour Board have decided to contribute a day's salary.

Clothes, pulses, utensils and other relief material will be collected from the port employees and sent to the Andaman and Nicobar islands.

The association has decided to stay away from New Year's celebrations in view of the tragedy.
