ONGC will be the title sponsor of the Ninth National Football League at an estimated outlay of Rs 7.5 crore. To be named as ONGC Cup,' the premier soccer championship will kick off on January 12.

ONGC has participated with other oil public sector units in sponsoring the seventh National Football League in 2002.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Dr A. K. Balyan, Director (HR, Business Development and Joint Venture) of ONGC, said that the company was yet to finalise the prize money and other such details.

"We have a long association with Indian sports, mainly hockey, basketball, volleyball and so on and employ a pool of national and international level sportspersons, including cricketers," Dr Balyan said.
