Quota regime

The end of quota regime from January 1, was a well-known fact. There were initial reports that the Indian textile industry was gearing up to take advantage of it and was even preparing to meet the challenges from China. And though it is said that the revision of the DEPB rates would help the players in the synthetic, man-made and blended textiles sector, the cotton players are worried that it will have an adverse impact on them and exports.

The government should take action to make the industry more competent. At a time when we have to boost exports to balance the trade deficit, the ordinance route should change and the government has to work efficiently.
