People M. Fakruddin is HAL Director-Mktg Our Bureau
BANGALORE: Mr M. Fakruddin has been appointed Director (Corporate Planning & Marketing) of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) with effect from January 1. He takes over from Mr D.C. Das, who has superannuated. A mechanical engineering graduate and post-graduate in industrial engineering and production management from the Cranfield Institute of Technology, UK, Mr Fakruddin joined HAL in 1970 as a management trainee at the Aero Engine Division, Koraput. He has served as DGM, Aircraft Division, Nashik, where he gained experience in manufacture and overhaul of MiG series. In July 2001, Mr Fakruddin took over as GM of the prestigious Su-30 MkI project and co-ordinated the setting up of facilities for the manufacture of the Sukhoi fighters in five divisions of HAL. He was also the Secretary of the sub-group of the Indo-Russian Inter-Governmental Commission for Military Technical Co-operation in aviation. Before his current posting, he was GM (Corporate Planning & Projects), Bangalore.
