Satyam Computer, staff contribute Rs 2.5 cr to tsunami relief work

SATYAM Computer Services Ltd and its employees have jointly contributed Rs 2.5 crore as part of its efforts to assist the massive relief work undertaken by the Government, to help the tsunami affected.

The contribution was made to the Chief Minister's Relief Funds of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Further a corpus will be made available to Satyam Foundation to focus on long-term rehabilitation of children affected by the tragedy.

Meanwhile, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has mobilised help to the affected families in Ramayampatnam, Pallepalem and Karlapalem in Prakasam district. About 400 families are expected to benefit from it worth Rs 3 lakh, according to a BHEL release.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) labs in Hyderabad have also chipped in with food items, cloth and medicines. The staff of the Defence Research and Development Laboratory, ANURAG etc. contributed items in large quantities to help the tsunami victims, a DRDO release said.
