HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government will come out with a new Road Policy this week. At a news conference here, the Minister for Roads and Buildings, Mr Jakkampudi Ramamohan Rao, said the new policy would take care of coordination with other departments with regard to laying and maintenance of roads.

The policy would be announced at the conference of Superintending and Executive Engineers of the department to be held on Thursday.

This would be a step towards enacting a legislation to protect roads from encroachments.

The conference would deliberate on new engineering techniques to lay roads at lesser costs.

Earlier, the Minister held a videoconference with district officials. He told them that Nabard (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) had sanctioned a loan of Rs 430 crore.

The government asked for Rs 600 crore for laying 6,000 km of new roads.
