Management IIM-B joins Infosys to offer PG programme in Chennai Our Bureau
Bangalore , Jan. 5 THE Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, has partnered with Infosys Technologies to launch its PG programme in Software Enterprise Management in Chennai. Announcing the launch on Wednesday, Mr Abhay K. Ojha, Chairperson, Post-Graduate Programme in SEM, IIMB, said: "Seven years after offering it in Bangalore, we felt the programme was mature enough to move to another city." There has been a strong demand for the course from Chennai and Hyderabad. According to Prof Ojha, Hyderabad will be considered after the Chennai experiment stabilises. PGSEM is a two-year general management programme for mid-career software professionals. Students for the programme are selected through CAT, conducted by the IIMs, though this year a separate test will be conducted for the applicants. SEM, like other management courses has a core courses and a set of electives. Infosys has offered to host the programme at its Mahindra City campus in the city, but the programme is open to candidates from any IT company. About 45 candidates will be selected in Chennai. According to Prof Ojha, the weekend programme in Chennai will be the same as that offered in Bangalore at the IIMB campus. The classes in Chennai will be conducted in synchronous mode using two-way video and audio along with auxiliary technologies supporting rich interaction between the faculty member and students in Chennai and Bangalore. Faculty will also travel to Chennai every few weeks to conduct live classes, and facilitate out of class interactions. "We are very excited about this as it gives us an opportunity to explore new paradigms and leverage new technologies," said Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan, COO, Infosys Technologies.
