Letters A balanced approach
The recent tsunami catastrophe has left an indelible mark on the lives of many. The survivors are reduced to the level of refugees having lost their families and homes to the disaster. In this hour of trauma, the flow of funds and relief material is massive. However, what is required is a well planned and co-ordinated effort to channel the incoming money and materials in the best possible manner so that these reach the victim and are not siphoned off by middlemen. The political parties, both at the State and Centre, should bury their differences and move jointly to streamline the relief measures. The media, on its part, should not indulge in war of words and become a vehicle for parties to trade accusations. A balanced approach is needed. R. S. Raghavan
