Temple darshan scheme

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: At the monthly District Tourism Council meeting held in the Collectorate recently, the members have suggested the introduction of a `temple darshan scheme' by the Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple here, on the lines of a scheme in operation at Tirupati Airport, serving air travellers. The scheme is to be evolved in association with the Madurai Airport, the State Tourism Department and the district administration. However, the official sources said, that a concrete decision would emerge only after a meeting of the board of trustees of temple and other departments concerned.

A suggestion to introduce a training programme for taxi drivers to enhance the quality of hospitality has also been made. The programme, likely to be organised by end March would focus on business sense, attitude, spoken communication, knowledge and driving skills, efficiency factors and time management, the sources added.
