Telecommunications Airtel launches new pre-paid plan in Chennai Our Bureau
Chennai , Jan. 6 AIRTEL has introduced a new pre-paid plan for its subscribers in Chennai. The plan offers customers a single tariff in Chennai as well as while roaming in Tamil Nadu circle, on all outgoing calls and messages. Airtel offers mobile services in both Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles. For Chennai customers opting for the new plan, outgoing tariffs will be Rs 1.50 a minute for a call to any Chennai and Tamil Nadu mobile while calling from Chennai or from Tamil Nadu circles. Calls to landlines in the two circles will be charged at Rs 2 a minute and STD calls to other parts of India at Rs 3 a minute. A daily rental of Re 1 will be levied, according to an Airtel press release. All incoming calls while roaming in Tamil Nadu will be charged at Rs 1.50 a minute against the normal tariff of Rs 5.45. The release said the benefit of unified charges would be extended to messages also, which would be charged at 50 paise for any SMS (Short Message Service) to Chennai and Tamil Nadu mobiles and Rs 2 per message for any national SMS. The new pre-paid plan is offered through a start up kit priced at Rs 199, with Rs 50 worth of talk time and a 15-day validity period. Existing customers can migrate to the new plan.
