Natural Calamities Isha Foundation keen to adopt tsunami-hit villages Our Bureau
Coimbatore , Jan. 9 THE Coimbatore-based Isha Foundation - a public charitable trust - has, with the authorisation of the District Collector, adopted the Thiruchorpuram Village in Cuddalore District. This village was among those hit severely by tsunami on December 26. Isha sources say that this village would serve as a model for implementing its rehabilitation programme. The Foundation Head Jaggi Vasudev has indicated his intention of adopting 120 severely affected villages in the Cuddalore and Nagapattinam areas. Besides adopting villages, the Foundation proposes to reach out to those most in need. It has begun seeking necessary authorisation for adoption of orphaned female children numbering 100 and under seven from Nagapattinam area. The Foundation has rushed eight fully equipped Mobile Health Clinics (MHCs) to the affected areas for providing medical care on-site. It has procured one more MHC van for exclusive use in Cuddalore.
