Rubber Rubber softens on poor demand Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Jan. 10 STRONG buyer resistance and lack of demand from tyre sector continued to soften the sheet rubber price on Monday. The rest of the grades were unchanged though the market activities were in a low key. The world markets also exhibited a steady mood in the absence of decisive factors. In the domestic market, Ungraded rubber was more active as north Indians and buyers from the rubber goods sector were moderately procuring the grade. RSS 4 slipped to Rs 53.25 from Rs 53.50 at Kottayam and was steady at Rs 53.50 at Kochi as on Saturday. The rubber futures turned weak with a decline in volumes. The delivery month January was quoted at Rs 53.88 against Rs 53.16 a kg on Saturday. The February contract was quoted at Rs 53.62 (54.24), March at Rs 54.60 (55.37) and April at Rs 56.13 (56.80) per kg for RSS 4. RSS 3 closed steady at Rs 51.52 at Bangkok. TOCOM remained closed on account of Adults day. The spot rubber rates on Monday were: RSS 4 Rs 53.25 (53.50), RSS 5 Rs 52.00 (52.00), ungraded Rs 50.50 (50.50), ISNR 20 Rs 52.25 (52.25), latex 60% Rs 41.00 (41.00).
