Ad agency strikes gold with `interiors' unit

Our Bureau

Chennai , Jan. 10

ENSURING that a company's identity gets reflected in the office interiors seems to have proved beneficial for Chennai-based advertising agency Umak Resource Communications.

Its unit, Pomegranate, formed only about eight months ago to offer "corporate identity solutions", will have contributed to at least a fourth of Umak's revenues of Rs 8 crore-Rs 9 crore for the fiscal, says Mr Umapathy, its Director and Creative Officer.

Mr Umapathy, whose agency provides advertising, brand identity and design services while also being involved in branding initiatives, says often a company's branding philosophy is not reflected in its interiors. That's the reason he started Pomegranate, which now has eight clients.

While it pitches for business independently, Pomegranate also draws from its association with Umak, which works with clients such as Scope International, Polaris Software, Duracrete and Dax. Umak has decided to wind up its franchisee network plan.
