High-level task force to monitor Kerala SSI sector

Our Bureau

Kochi , Jan. 10

THE State Government has constituted a high-level task force, with the Chief Minister as its Chairman and the Industries Minister as Vice-Chairman, for the overall development of small-scale industries in the State.

A decision in this regard comes following a representation made by the Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) for a continuous review of the effectiveness of the single window system to support small industries' development in the State.

The Ministers of Finance, Revenue, Coir, Forest, Health and Power will be the members of the task force, and the Principal Secretary (Industries) will be convenor.

The President of the KSSIA, Mr Xavier Thomas Kondody, said the formation of the task force was a long pending demand of the association, so as to co-ordinate and monitor various departments for the State's industrial development.

He pointed out that a number of issues was pending in the Commercial Tax Department to be resolved.

Each issue is to be addressed on its merit and be finalised within a stipulated period.

The association had also demanded re-orientation of the single window clearance board in the district level with proper ex-officio representation to KSSIA, he said.
