Children & Parenting A joy ride for special children Our Bureau
MANGALORE: It was a special day for Harish Kumar, Wilson Pinto, Shah Hussain, J.J. Kittur and Rahil - all students of Sanidhya Residential School for Special Children in Mangalore on Monday, as they were treated with a joy ride in micro-light aircraft of Indian Air Force (IAF). A two-member team of IAF's Directorate of Adventure, which is on a 20-day `Microlight Challenge India 2005' expedition from January 1, provided a chance for them to have an aerial view of Mangalore. "I want to fly again," was the first response of Harish Kumar after alighting from the aircraft. Asked how did he feel while flying, Harish Kumar said he was very happy. As the micro-light aircraft could accommodate only two members, there was separate ride for every child. Mr Vasanth Kumar, who accompanied these children on behalf of Sanidhya School, told Business Line that these children are overwhelmed by such an experience. After hearing them, others at the school also want to fly. This shows that these children do not fear for anything, he said. Sqn Ldr A.P. Kashyap and Sqn Ldr Rahul Monga are circumnavigating India in the micro-light aircraft. Mr Kashyap told presspersons that such expeditions boost confidence, courage and camaraderie among them. After treating these children with a joy ride the aircraft left for Kozhikode.
