Software Israel co opens biz with Hutch project Our Bureau
Bangalore , Jan. 10 THE fast-growing Indian telecom sector has attracted Israel-based network optimisation solution provider Schema to set up business in India. Having wooed Hutch as its first Indian client, Schema aims to attract more telecom operators on the GSM and CDMA front. Quoting industry estimates, Mr Andy Silberstein, COO, Schema, said as of November 2004, India had over 45 million mobile subscribers. Announcing the launch of Schema's Indian presence, Mr Silberstein said the subcontinent offers a market of over $20 million for the company to explore. "We are already doing test runs with several operators who have shown interest in our software and, during the year, we expect to win several orders," he said. For Hutch, Schema has completed a RF (radio frequency) optimisation project in the Gujarat circle using the software firm's GSM Forte optimisation solution. Schema is looking to provide the same service in other circles too. Additionally, the Indian office will be used to bag telecom contracts in Sri Lanka, said Mr Silberstein. Besides opening a sales and marketing office in Delhi shortly, the company intends to expand its local partnership programme. Currently, IWTL operates as its Indian partner, providing complete optimisation services, turnkey optimisation projects and on-site support. Interestingly, Schema already has an eight-member R&D team at its facility in Chennai. "We utilised the team to develop our network optimisation product line, and we will expand the team and do more product development here as the market demand increases," Mr Aaron Shafir, Director-Business Development, told Business Line.
