Geno Pharma launches portal for patients suffering from vertigo

Hyderabad , Jan. 10

GENO Pharmaceuticals has launched a virtual clinic-cum-awareness window focussing on vertigo, a disease that lead to balance disorder, dizziness and a reeling sensation among the patients.

The portal, www.genovertigoclinic, would be a platform where patients could approach experts to get their doubts cleared, Dr Anirban Biswas, a senior neurotologist, told Business Line.

Dr Biswas launched the portal here at the four-day 57th AOICON-2005 (Annual Conference of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India).

The portal, which would be run by the company and guided by Dr Biswas, would have the provision for interaction between the patients and doctors through videoconference.

Unlike in the West where a speciality called neurotology is well developed to focus on vertigo patients, India lacks awareness on the disease that may have enormous economic costs in the form of lost man-days.
