Rlys transports 53.56 mt of freight in Dec '04

INDIAN Railways transported 53.56 million tonnes (mt) of revenue earning freight during December 2004, exceeding its target of 50.98 mt for the month by 2.58 mt. This was higher by 4.68 mt compared to December 2003, informs an official statement.

For the nine months of the current fiscal year ended December 2004, IR transported 438.26 mt of revenue earning freight, exceeding the target of 428.19 mt for the period by 10.07 mt . This was 31.11 mt higher over the loading of 407.15 mt during the corresponding period of the previous year. Target for the full year 2004-05 was 580 mt.
