E-Mail Spam, adware on Web to rise, says McAfee Our Bureau
New Delhi , Jan. 11 THE flow of unwanted content and spam mails hitting your inbox is unlikely to subside this year. On the contrary, intrusion prevention solutions company McAfee Inc., anticipates that adware and unwanted content such as spam transmitted via e-mail and the Web - would continue to rise in 2005 as programmes become increasingly complex. "Threats will be combined with content such as spam and phishing as the year progresses," says the company. McAfee. AVERT, the company's Anti-virus and Vulnerability Emergency Response Team, reports that bots and mass mailers are still the predominant methods by which virus writers impact enterprises, while exploits and adware account for over 60 per cent of the malicious threats tracked, significantly impacting consumer and home users. "Based on reports, McAfee anticipates that adware and unwanted content, transmitted via e-mail and the Web, will continue to increase in 2005, with programmes becoming increasingly complex," it said.
