Hiring in Infosys at brisk pace

INFOSYS has a total employee strength of 35,229 at the end of the third quarter, up from 32,949 in the previous quarter. Software professionals numbered 33,051 (30,922).

A net of 2,280 employees were added during the quarter compared to 5,010 during the second quarter, said Ms Hema Ravichander, Senior Vice-President - Human Resource Development. The Q2 hires include inflow from campus recruitment.

The company has made about 6,000 offers on various campuses and many of them will be joining in the second quarter of 2005-06, she said. Gross additions of 2,000 are expected during the rest of the fiscal, according to her.

The China operations will grow to about 2,000 people in the next 18-24 months. About 15 per cent of the company's workforce in China would be Indians, while the rest would be local hires.
