Public Sector Banks Corporate - Society & Development Indian Bank gives Rs 3 cr for PM tsunami fund Our Bureau
The Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Bank, Mr M.B.N. Rao, handing over cheques for Rs 3 crore to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, towards the National Relief Fund.
Chennai , Jan. 12 INDIAN Bank has given Rs 3 crore to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. The bank's Chairman and Managing Director, Mr M.B.N. Rao, handed over cheques for Rs 2 crore and Rs 1 crore representing the bank's contribution and the contribution of a day's salary by its employees, to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, on January 10, according to a bank press release. It said the bank had introduced a number of schemes to help the tsunami victims restart their lives. These include consumption loan, loan for purchasing non-mechanised boat, loans for mechanising non-mechanised boat and loans for repairing catamaran, according to the release.
