Foundation laying ceremony for the elevated expressway will be held on April 2, he said. Addressing presspersons here on Monday, the Minister said that information technology companies and the State Government have promised to give Rs 100 crore each for expressway work. The Union Government will contribute the remaining amount. Added to this, 157-km-long Nelamangala-Hassan Expressway will come up at a cost of Rs 620 crore, 85-km-long Bangalore-Kolar-Mulbagal Expressway at a cost of Rs 400 crore and 74-km-long Kundapur-Surathkal Expressway at a cost of Rs 500 crore, he said. A detailed project report for Kundapur-Surathkal stretch work is being prepared. To a query on widening of the road between B.C. Road and Surathkal under the New Mangalore Port Road connectivity project, the Minister said that the National Highways Authority of India would invite bids for the work, which will begin soon. He said that his Ministry has approved widening of 230-km-long Mangalore-Kozhikode section of National Highway No. 17 into a four-lane one. Work on this road will be taken up under the third phase of National Highway Development Programme. He said that roads leading to Shravanabelagola in Chennarayapatna taluk of Hassan district are being upgraded with assistance from Central Road Fund. He felt that improvement of these roads would help in attracting more tourists for this year's `mahamastakabhisheka'. The Government will provide all the districts their due share under the Central Road Fund, he added.
