THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The President of Kerala State Co-operative Agricultural and Rural Development Bank, Mr K. Sivadasan, has said the State Government should devise a special scheme to cover the debts of tsunami-affected people.

Most of the people who lost canoes, fishing gear, and other valuables had availed themselves of loans from agricultural and rural development banks, he said. They have lost all possessions and could not be expected to repay. Their debts added up to nearly Rs 3 crore.

Mr Sivadasan asked the Government to draw up a scheme in consultation with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.
