AP RRB staff plan dharna

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Regional Rural Bank Employees Association is organising a dharna before the head office of SBI here on Wednesday demanding the latter to honour the verdict of Supreme Court pertaining to allowances.

In a press release here on Tuesday, the Association General Secretary, Mr S. Venkateswar Reddy, said the employees of five RRBs sponsored by SBI in Andhra Pradesh would participate.

According to the RRBs Association, all the sponsored banks in the country except SBI have honoured the verdict of Supreme Court dated January 31, 2001. Consequently, the hospitalisation scheme and other allowances of RRB employees remained un-revised since 1987.

Though the pay scales were revised on par with the sponsor banks, the allowances attached to these scales were not revised suitably for years, thereby causing unrest among the RRB staff, the association said.
