Visakhapatnam , Jan. 18 THE Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, known popularly as GITAM, at Rushikonda near here, is planning to set up a campus FM radio station for the benefit of its students during the current (silver jubilee) year. Mr V. However, there are many others who want to be on their own," he said. He said GITAM was also tying up with the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, to enable the students to study for three years in GITAM and one year in the US to get the degree. "We started with an engineering college 25 years ago and now we have a college of management, the GITAM Institute of Foreign Trade, a dental college and a college of sciences. With more than 4,000 students, it is almost a mini university," he said. Mr Seetharamaiah said the former union minister, Dr Karan Singh, would inaugurate the silver jubilee celebrations on Thursday. Cine actress-turned politician, Ms Jayaprada, would also participate in the function. She is at present a member of the Lok Sabha from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh representing the Samajwadi Party. "It is our endeavour to make GITAM one of the best business, management and engineering institutions in the country to enable our students to survive and thrive in a globalised market," he said.
