TNAU in research tie-up for drip irrigation

Madurai , Jan. 20

THE Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has entered into a collaborative research with a private player for drip irrigation.

It recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd of Maharashtra. According to the Dean of the Agriculture College and Research Institute here, Dr N. Kempu Chetty, the focus of the collaboration would be on saving water in cultivation, wasteland development, promotion of contract farming in horticulture crops and rainwater harvesting. The pursuit help save consumption of water by 40 per cent and increase the crop yield by 20 per cent.
