Tata Coffee third quarter net gallops over 200%

TATA Coffee has reported a 208 per cent jump in its net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2004 at Rs 13.32 crore as against Rs 4.32 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. However, total income for the December quarter this year was marginally lower at Rs 50.43 crore as against Rs 51.75 crore for the year-ago period.

The net profit includes an extraordinary income of Rs 8.39 crore (sale of shares, investments and properties), said a company press release.

Tata Coffee is in the process of merging its subsidiary Highhill Coffee India Pvt Ltd, a 100 per cent export-oriented unit manufacturing instant coffee.

The company also divested its entire stake of 34.31 per cent of the equity capital of Barista Coffee Company Ltd during the quarter.
