Century Enka net falls 74 pc to Rs 4 crore

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Jan. 24

CENTURY Enka's net profit for the quarter ended December 2004 fell 74 per cent to Rs 4.03 crore (Rs 15.47 crore in the year-ago period), because of a 40-day strike by workers at its Pune plant in November 2004.

A steep rise in raw material prices of polyester yarn and chips also affected margins.

Net sales rose marginally to Rs 218.63 crore (Rs 210.99 crore) and other income dipped to Rs 1.36 crore (Rs 2.64 crore). There was a 224 per cent decrease in stock in trade that significantly added to the profit income.

Raw material costs rose to Rs 154.13 crore (Rs 133.44 crore).
